31 weeks

I know I say this almost every post, but it is so hard to believe that I am this far along in the pregnancy. The time has just flown by and I am still waiting for those "uncomfortable pains" I have heard so much about, to set in. I have to admit that I have been SUPER blessed throughout this whole pregnancy and I am hardly even feeling like I am pregnant. You will hear zero to little complaining from me! :)

On Sunday evening, Bruce and I were laying in bed and the little guy was kicking up a storm so I asked Bruce if he wanted to feel some kicks. I heard some slight hesitation in his voice (I know he thinks I am growing an alien inside of me...haha) but he said, "Yea!" In typical guy fashion, he felt a few kicks and said, "That's creepy." Haha. Wow...that response was ALMOST better than the high five I got when I told him I was pregnant. That man cracks me up and I sure do love him!!

The week of Spring Break ended last week and it sure was nice to get some things done around the house in preparation for this baby. My Susie Homemaker side really came out when I busted out the sewing machine and made a nursing cover! I had to cut the fabric, iron and pin it, sew it and even added some boning to the neck area. It sure was an intimidating project but I would say the end result was ROCKIN!!! I will add a picture next post!

Here is my 31 week picture. I had an appointment last week at 30 weeks, and will have another next week at 32. Until 36 weeks, I will have an appointment every 2 weeks. Beginning at week 36, I move to 1 week appointments. YIKES!!!! That means this baby is ready to make its grand entrance! I. CANT. WAIT!

How far along? 31 weeks. They say the baby weighs 3.5 to 4 pounds!
Total weight gain: I'm between 9-10 pounds now.
Maternity clothes: Been wearing them since about week 22. As it is getting nicer, I am getting back into my skirts. Good thing they have stretchy waist bands.
Sleep: Sleep is good. No complaints!! I am woken up from time to time because of some fierce kicking.
Best moment this week: Only 9 weeks left! Single digits!! Bruce feeling kicks was pretty great too! :)
Miss anything? Still missing wine...
Movement: Lots of kicks in the evening and overnight, but feeling even more during the day.
Food cravings: Still no crazy food cravings.
Symptoms: Not too many. After my walks I notice my stomach is a little tight but nothing bad.
Belly button in or out? Still in.
Wedding rings on or off? Still on and comfortable!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Most of the time, been feeling happy! Very anxious and growing very impatient.
Looking forward to: Baby K making his debut...and our childbirth class this weekend!

30 weeks!!

It is so hard to believe we have reached 30 weeks! The time has flown by and I have been feeling great! Some other friends I have talked to, who were recently pregnant themselves, are constantly asking me if I am tired and sleeping through the night. They are shocked to hear that I am sleeping pretty great, with the exception of the occasional visit to the bathroom. :)

Now that the weather has gotten nicer, I try to get out and walk once per day. For a while, I was very sore in my hips (I assume from my body preparing for labor) but as long as I can get out and walk, it makes my hips feel great! So far today it is very windy and only 40 degrees, so I am hopeful it gets a little warmer this afternoon.

Here is the 30 week picture! I have my 30 week appointment tomorrow with the doctor. For the next 6 weeks, I will have an appointment once every 2 weeks...then weekly appointments! Yikes!

How far along? 30 weeks. Baby is the size of a head of cabbage.
Total weight gain: Still holding steady around 7-8 pounds gained.
Maternity clothes: Been wearing them since about week 22. Since it is Spring Break, I have been spending my days in sweats.
Sleep: Sleep is good. No complaints!!
Best moment this week: Getting so close to single digit weeks! St. Patrick's Day was Monday and it was fun spending the day celebrating with the family...minus Bruce. :-\
Miss anything? Still missing wine...
Movement: I have been feeling more movement during the day. He is starting to get a little cramped!
Food cravings: Still no crazy food cravings.
Symptoms: Not too many. After my walks I notice my stomach is a little tight but nothing bad.
Belly button in or out? Still in. I dont think I will have a button that pops.
Wedding rings on or off? Still on and comfortable!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Most of the time, been feeling happy! I had a momentary break down yesterday but otherwise, happy! :)
Looking forward to: Baby K making his debut...and again, the Sporting game tonight!!

29 Weeks

This last week has felt like a big week! A few exciting things have happened and a few "whew" moments have happened too!

First off, a few weeks back I mentioned (I think) my 1 hour Glucose test...well those results came back and I did not pass. Cut off is 135 and I got a 150. Bummer. So I had to sign up for the 3 hour Glucose test. UGH! This required fasting for 12 hours, drinking the gross drink again, and getting blood drawn every hour for 3 hours. I took that test on Friday and got a call on Monday with the results...I PASSED!!! Woot! I have always been a person who loves sweets and carbs...so I was fairly confident my body could handle the break down of the sugar...but with pregnancy they say your hormones are all over the place and while you might normally handle something well, with a baby inside of you, all bets are off. Thank goodness I passed! I went home and enjoyed a Cadbury Cream Egg...my absolute FAV chocolate during Easter!

Over the last week, I have also woken up suddenly in the middle of the night because of a lot of activity coming from my midsection! The baby boy has been kicking like CRAZY in the middle of the night! Clearly, he is in the mood to play while mama is trying to sleep. Haha. Usually, I would be upset with the interruption of sleep but I was so excited about it that I just laid there with my hand on my belly and felt the kicks. Talk about feeling like an alien is inside of you! What a strange but amazing feeling! Such a blessing.

Today is a spirit day at school! My maternity jeans are pretty comfortable so I look forward to days where I can wear them. Below is my 29 week picture. Am I getting bigger? The scale sure says I am...but I dont feel like I LOOK bigger...I'll let you be the judge.

Yea...definitely getting bigger. :)

Our IT guy here at school is taking his wife to the hospital tonight to prepare for induction tomorrow!!! I have been so excited for them because I know I am the next one in the building to intro a little person to the world!!

Tonight, Bruce and I are headed to the first home Sporting KC game! While the off season was only 3 months...it has been a loooooong 3 months without soccer. We are very excited for the season to start again.

I stole this next part from a friend who is currently 37 weeks preggo.

How far along? 29 weeks. Baby is the size of a butternut squash...why do they compare the size of baby to some food I have hardly heard of?! I certainly wouldnt know how to COOK with a butternut squash! Haha.
Total weight gain: *Lucky* for me I lost some weight at the beginning of the pregnancy so my weight gain isnt too out of control....yet. I am currently up 7 pounds pre-pregnancy.
Maternity clothes? Been wearing them since about week 22. I wore some skirts to school this week since it has been so nice! With the stretchy elastic, I hope to wear my "normal" skirts for as long as possible. Ive got one maternity skirt if things get too tight...
Sleep: Sleep as been ok. I have always been a light sleeper, but recently, I have needed complete silence to fall and STAY asleep. I occasionally move to the other bedroom in the middle of the night because of "the dogs"  :)
Best moment this week: Waking up to crazy kicking!
Miss Anything? Wine...FOR SURE!
Movement: I feel movement periodically throughout the day...but definitely more in the evenings and most definitely right before bed.
Food cravings: None really...I was wondering if I would get one of those crazy cravings...but I still eat most of the normal stuff I have always eaten!
Symptoms: Not too many. I notice that towards the end of a school day my stomach starts to feel tight if I have been standing most of the day...so I try to sit while teaching as much as possible, because the tight feeling is fairly uncomfortable.
Belly Button in or out? Still in. I dont think I will have a button that pops.
Wedding rings on or off? Still on and LOOSE!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Moody like crazy...but how is that different than non-pregnant MB?! Haha.
Looking forward to: Baby K making his debut of course...but also the Sporting KC game tonight!!!

28 weeks

Wednesdays are the day that represent the start of a new week for this pregnancy...and this week was a BIG one!! Week 28 officially marks the start of the THIRD TRIMESTER!!! Fist pump in the air! Below is a picture I took this morning before leaving for school.

I have been feeling pretty good lately. I have noticed (especially the last two days) that my belly gets tight in the afternoon during my last class of the day. I am wondering if it is because I have been on my feet most of the day or if it is because of the class I am dealing with?! To be honest...either answer is completely legit...

Until next week!

Some bump pictures

I told myself I would try to update this at least once a week with a picture of how the bump is progressing...

Two words. Broken. Promises.

Ugh!

Anyway, here are the last few weeks and their bump pictures. Beginning with the start of week 23. This was the the first week that I actually felt like I had a bump and my pants were becoming increasingly tighter. Getting through the school day in my nice dress pants was difficult. I already started off the days with one button undone...but by the time the end of the day approached, I was more than ready for sweats.

As I entered week 24, I finally gave in and started wearing the maternity jeans that I had purchased for myself back over Thanksgiving (Black Friday sales!!). My work pants were really uncomfortable so I looked through a bag of old clothes and found these stretchy (but nice) pair of pants (two pair actually...one brown, one black) that I could wear to school until the warmer weather would allow for elastic waist band skirts!

Week 25 is officially called the week of Viability! This means that if something were to happen and little dude needed to come out early, there would be an 80-90% chance he could survive. This week also marked the first week that I had a hard time sleeping. I often woke up throughout the night to flip to the other side, because my hip/shoulder would get sore. Since then, I have managed that soreness, but for this week, it was tough to deal with! In this picture, I am in my stretchy pants but still wearing a "normal" sweater. A little snug but still works!

Week 26 was a pretty mellow week. I have really started to feel more strong movements from the little guy although they weren't as often. Feeling less movement had me slightly concerned for like 2 hours...but then I remember reading somewhere that in these weeks, movement decreases slightly, before it really gets strong. No sense in worrying!

Week 27 required a monthly visit to the doctor. I was so excited for this visit because I was finally getting the pre-registration paperwork for the hospital! I have been so anxious to contact the hospital to sign up for a few classes as well as set up a "Maternity Navigator" visit. Apparently during this visit (Maternity Navigator) we would talk about my hopes/expectations for Labor and Delivery and some other random things when I come in to give birth! Woot!

Unfortunately, at this doc office visit, I was required to do the glucose testing. Ugh. I have heard nothing but bad things about this test, so I was really not excited. I also tend to eat a ton of carbs and sugars, so I was SURE that I would not pass. I showed up to the appointment, selected Fruit Punch as my special drink flavor, and waited the hour before they drew blood. A few days later I got the results...I did not pass. Ugh GREAT! So now I have to schedule another visit for the 3 hour glucose test. If I pass this test, I will be good to go...if I don't, I will really need to start watching what I eat and I will have to prick my finger daily to test my blood sugar levels. Fingers crossed that I pass this second test! This picture isn't the best because I wore a dress to school that day, so the bump isn't as defined.

For now I feel like the bump size is at a plateau. I know soon enough it will grow much quicker...so I am just waiting for that to happen. My weight has been pretty steady although it did increase between my 22 week visit and my 27 week visit. My 3 hour glucose test is scheduled for Friday morning. Regardless of the results, the next time I will see my doctor will be during spring break! Now my visits will be every 2 weeks until that last month! Woot woot! I seriously cannot believe it is already time for more frequent visits. I am starting to get a little anxious because we have NO clothes for this person, NO bedsheets, and NO diapers. I like to be as prepared as possible, so I am just ready to start doing loads of laundry in prep for him. Soon enough it will come. At least if he came tomorrow, we have a crib and a changing table. OH and we have the glider!!

The next time I post (which is hopefully later this week) will mark the beginning of the THIRD TRIMESTER!!! WOOT!
