St. Patrick's Day...and other pics!

Ah St. Patrick's Day! One of my favorite days of the year!! My family and I have always enjoyed celebrating our heritage and as we have all gotten older, I seem to enjoy it even more. The day usually consists of breakfast at mom and dads, the parade in midtown, and then lunch after at a semi-Irish themed bar. This year was especially fun because the weather was nice enough to get Karsen to the parade and really get the full experience. Sure...he wont remember any of it...but I will!

This first picture was taken before all of the excitement began. Karsen is hanging out with Grandma showing off his "Kiss me Im Irish" shirt. Courtesy of Grandma!

While we were waiting for pancakes and sausage to be ready, we took some family pics. Here is Karsen with his Uncle Jim!

It was unclear how far away we would park from the actual parade route, so I made sure to throw in Karsen's new umbrella stroller. I dont think he quite knew what was happening...hence the expression on his face.

As the parade was getting ready to start, Karsen and mom had to get a picture! We missed you dad!

Karsen hearing the bagpipers!! If he is anything like his mom, that will be one of his favorite parts of the parade!

And here is Karsen looking on as a marching/step band made their way by. Mom's other favorite part of the parade.

After the parade, we headed out south to Futbol Club to meet up with Bruce for lunch. Here is a pic of all the Cleary/Summers guys.

Karsen was glad dad could join us for lunch!

And a family picture.

The Futbol Club was not too busy but we were all together so I had no complaints!

Karsen had to get a pic with his grandparents before we headed home for a much needed nap.

Below are some fun pics of K over the last few weeks. We finally put his infant tub away and have been filling the big tub for baths. The first few times I think he didnt like it (maybe the space was just too big and spread out?) but he has gotten more used to the idea and still loves bath time!

He has gotten really good at picking up his plastic balls and throwing them around the room. He almost plays fetch with himself because he throws them then crawls over to pick them up again.

This kid LOVES going on walks! I finally got the jogging stroller wheel fixed and took it out for the first time the other day. I didnt jog the whole time, but when I did, I could tell Karsen was really enjoying himself!

This week of spring break has been THE BEST spending so much time with Karsen. And now that he is older, he can entertain himself pretty well so I can get some other things done while he plays. I also like how I can walk around to different areas and he just crawls after me. He likes to stay close even though he doesnt need my undivided attention...not always...

40 weeks IN...40 weeks OUT

Karsen is 40 weeks old! Totally weird and I would never say "Karsen is 40 weeks old today!" BUT I feel like it is important to point out because he spent 40 long, warm weeks in my tummy, and now he has been "out" for 40 weeks. Man what a change in just that short amount of time! Just for fun, here is a belly pic that I took just a few days before he was born! Actually, I think I might have taken this the morning of the day my water broke!

And here is a picture I took of Karsen this morning as he was crawling all around the kitchen floor. He is always exploring, talking and moving around. This kid really does hold all of my heart in his chubby little hands.

And here is a shot from Chris, our daycare provider! She sends out random pics from time to time and this was such a great shot to get! He is just so happy!

He is still trying new foods as often as possible. The other day we gave him a celery stalk with a thin smear of peanut butter on it. He really seemed to like it...and part of me wonders if his gums are a little sore because he even really got into chewing a little bit of the stalk. In the next couple of weeks, we are really going to pump up his exposure to ground turkey, chicken and other proteins. I also plan on making some rice this weekend for him to try. Many BLW parents also give their little one's spaghetti and I have been a little worried about that, but I think he is almost to the age where I would feel comfortable stripping him down and letting him get nice and messy with noodles and sauce. We shall see.
