38 weeks

11 days from today and we will have a new member to the family! Woot! To say I am excited is a serious understatement! I am also terrified...but mainly excited. And whats funny is I have BIG plans on getting out of the house more this time around than I did with Karsen. I think having Karsen around, I will be forced to get out more with Baby C. Im just excited to see how our family dynamic shifts, how Karsen reacts, and how I try to handle 2 kids this summer. Yikes!

This has been a HECK of a week and I would be completely ok if a week like this never happened again. Karsen came down with Hand Foot Mouth disease. What is it, you may ask?! Well, it sounds like a disease that should have been completely eradicated back in the 1700's, but no. It is very easy to contract if you are around another child who has it. Kids 5 and younger can get it really easy. The worst part, once a kid gets it, you dont know right away. It actually simmers in the kid for a solid 2-3 days and then the physical symptoms hit all the sudden. So clearly, Karsen got it Friday at daycare, because by Monday, he had little red bumps ALL OVER his body. Sadly that was not the worse of it. Those bumps turned into sores and blisters. The worst sores and blisters were in his mouth, on the palms of his hands and his feet. He also had some really bad bumps around his diaper area, but none of them developed into blisters like the rest did. Ugh. Tuesday and Wednesday had to be the worst days because K didnt eat as much as normal (sores in his mouth) and his naps were terrible...again most likely because of the itchiness of the bumps. Ugh. Thank goodness for Grandma! She spent those two days with K trying to nurse him back to health. Papa came in town for Karsen duty on Thursday and Friday. We are so incredibly blessed to have such awesome parents who are willing to watch our child who cant go to daycare, to allow us both to still go to work. Had this happened months ago, I think we would have taken the days off, but being within two weeks of Baby C, I am already missing that full last week of school and might have been pushing my luck to ask for more time off this week. It is Friday night and Karsen has finally gotten back to his normal sleeping and napping routine. He still has sores around his mouth, and on his hands and feet, but they are starting to dry up. While he LOOKS scary, he is totally back to himself which is so great! Here are some pics from the week!

This pic above and below are from Sunday...before we realized he was sick.

This is from Tuesday, His first day at home with Grandma. He still tried to play around and act normal, but we knew something was going on.

Wednesday...with loads of Calamine lotion! It helped with the itching and dried up the bumps!

Stuffing his face with snack on Thursday with papa. You can see the Calamine lotion and some of the bumps below. YUCK!

Another pic from Thursday. Playing outside with his ball and tee! And below, throwing the frisbee. We need to work on the technique.

Playing outside Friday evening. He pulled his hat down pretty low and was acting so silly. Haha. Back to himself! And below, kicking the ball off of the tower slide with neighbor Rose! He loves playing with Rose!

How far along? 38 weeks. Baby is the size of a leek. Looking at these pictures on the app, it seems like the baby is getting smaller which is NOT the case.
Total weight gain: At the appointment Thursday, I was up 24 pounds.
Maternity clothes: Anything loose around my midsection is ok by me. There are a few certain things I can wear that are loose enough, but otherwise, almost all of my clothes are NOT comfortable.
Sleep: Sleep has been ok. Waking up more during the night to rotate from side to side.
Best moment this week: I would say Thursday when Karsen got up...he was acting more like himself and that just makes things so much easier.
Miss anything? Sleep. And wine!
Movement: This kid is moving ALL. THE. TIME. He is getting to the point though where he is trying to stretch but doesnt have room...and it kind of hurts! Easy kid!
Food cravings: Raspberry iced tea and cereal. Weird.
Symptoms: Tight belly...and tired early in the evening.
Belly button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On but more snug. I havent worn my engagement ring the last two days...the wedding band is about all that I can stand to wear.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! So ready to meet this kid!
Looking forward to: Meeting this little boy and getting my body back. Not saying I had a desirable body prior to this but I just want my organs to go back where they belong...haha. I have been retaining some fluids this week and swelling more than previous weeks. Ankles are now cankles...and my fingers and toes are like sausages. I vaguely remember this happening at this point with Karsen too and I certainly have no room to complain because I have friends who dealt with swelling for WEEKS...even months prior to their labor, so I can handle the last week and a half.
